Have you ever wanted to try your hand at creating with enamel, but didn't know where to start? Join Hartlepool artist, Carley, for the perfect taster workshop to introduce you to a world of enamelling on copper.

In this workshop, you'll explore how colour can capture a memory, place or feeling. The blue of the sea, a flower, or landscape might inspire your work. Or a childhood object, a meaningful colour or favourite building could bring a memory to mind.

You'll practice with small pieces of copper before creating your own enamel fragment. You will explore techniques such as stencilling, masking, colour blending and ombre effects. You'll also try your hand at Sgraffito. This involves scratching at the surface with small tools to show through layers underneath. And you'll learn how enamel is safely applied and transformed through kiln firing.

This workshop will get you to think about colour and it's meaning to you. Instead of a picture, you might create a colour palette that captures a mood, memory, or feeling. You don’t need any experience of working with enamel. You’ll be shown what to do with step-by-step instructions, and help and guidance will be available throughout the process.

You will be able to take your finished work home with you. You can also choose to have your finished pieces displayed in a group artwork as part of a larger installation.Perfect for beginners and anyone who fancies trying something new with enamel colour and metal! Come and spend a relaxing afternoon getting creative!
