Have you ever wanted to make your own glass mosaic, but didn't know where to start? Join Hartlepool artist, Carley, for the perfect taster workshop to introduce you to a world of glass mosaic making.

In this workshop you'll learn how colour can connect us to people, places and memories. Rather than creating a traditional picture you'll think about a small fragment of colour that means something to you.

You'll work with small pieces of coloured glass to create your own mosaic. You'll learn how to safely handle and arrange the glass. You'll try out working with tweezers and adhesive to place the pieces. You'll also learn about curing the adhesive with UV light and finishing your mosaic with black grout.

You'll also explore the spaces between pieces looking at contrast, repetition and how separate fragments can come together to create something new. Imagine that you could take one tiny piece of colour from your favourite memory. Which colour would you choose? The blue of the sea? The red of a childhood toy? The Green of a favourite place?

There's no need to have any experience working with glass. You’ll be shown what to do with step-by-step instructions, and help and guidance will be available throughout the process. You will be able to take your finished work home with you.

You can also choose to have your finished pieces displayed in a group artwork as part of a larger installation. Perfect for beginners and anyone who fancies trying their hand at glass mosaic making! Come and spend a relaxing afternoon playing with glass, colour and pattern!

If you have any questions regarding access requirements for this session please contact us via info@rockpools.org or call 01429 858351
