Hand Made Stencil Printing Taster Session

Date: Wednesday 18 November
Time: 1pm - 3pm
Location: Elwick WI Hall, The Green, Elwick, TS27 3EF
Age: 18+
Free - pre-booking essential.

Please aim to arrive by 12.45pm so that the session can start promptly at 1pm

Have you ever wanted to make your own stencil print, but didn't know where to start? Join Teesside artist, Jessica, for the perfect taster workshop to introduce you to a world of hand-made stencil printing (also known as pochoir).

In this session you will create your own hand-cut stencil and learn to build up colour layer on layer until a pattern grows.

Cut a shape from paper. Push colour through it. Move it, turn it and do it again. This is a very unusual printing technique used to colour art books a hundred years ago, and it still looks beautiful today.

You will go home with your set of prints, stencils and a way of doing art that needs just a sheet of paper, a craft knife and some colour.

If you have any questions regarding access requirements for this session please contact us via info@rockpools.org or call 01429 858351

Image shows Jessica Leigh. A young woman with long blond hair. She is wearing rimmed glasses and a black jacket. She is standing with woodland in the background.

Jessica Leigh is a printmaker and painter from Teesside. She teaches people across Tees Valley. Most arrive sure they can't do art, and yet always seem to prove themselves wrong in the end.
