Have you ever wanted to try your hand at printing with lino, but didn't know where to start? Join Teesside artist, Jessica, for the perfect taster workshop to introduce you to a world of lino printing.

In this session you will learn to carve a design into a lino block. You'll ink and press it onto paper by hand. And when you peel it back, you'll see your beautifully crisp design appear on the paper.

You'll get to take home your own prints, learn plenty of hints and tips along the way and take your own carved block, which will keep printing for years to come.

Lino printing is a very traditional printing technique for creating crisp endlessly repeating images. Most people find the carving calming, though it does require a little bit of strength in your hands if working for a long time.

If you have access requirements that mean you would find this difficult, Jessica can also adapt this to a type of printing that uses Styrofoam and doesn’t require the same hand pressure.

Please let us know if this is the case ahead of the session, or feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

If you have any questions regarding access requirements for this session please contact us via info@rockpools.org or call 01429 858351

Image shows Jessica Leigh. A young woman with long blond hair. She is wearing rimmed glasses and a black jacket. She is standing with woodland in the background.

Jessica Leigh is a printmaker and painter from Teesside. She teaches people across Tees Valley. Most arrive sure they can't do art, and yet always seem to prove themselves wrong in the end.
